I am an artist.Â
I work in a variety of medium although I most often work in encaustic.Â
Encaustic is an ancient technique that uses heated beeswax together with pigments and other medium. Working in encaustic allows me to integrate photography, watercolor, vintage media, collage and found objects into an integrated piece. To create a piece, I typically melt beeswax together with damar resin, and then integrate additional elements on a panel surface. Short slideshow on my process.
While I have dabbled in art my entire life, I started to work more seriously in 2014, while on sabbatical in Spain. In Barcelona, I started to more deeply explore my creative side with a book on acrylic painting written in Spanish and classes in Catalan. I barely understood either but have expanded my work from there.
My work has been shown in Barcelona at Escola Trac, in Madison, Wisconsin as part of the Jewish Artist’s Collaborative and in Milwaukee at the ArtBar. Additionally I have been published in the TBE Haggadot Project and in a surrealist card game which will be released in late 2025.
